HIIPfit Heroes - Kip Burdette
Meet Kip Burdette
It’s alway so exciting to brag on members that come sweat it out with us at KHF. We are happy to introduce to you our next HIIPfit Hero - Kip! He started his journey with us back in January of 2019 and has been going strong ever since. We love to see his increased: strength, stamina, mobility, and most importantly, boosted confidence over the years!
Just like any fitness journey, Kip has experienced some ups and downs throughout, but the biggest thing that we have seen is his consistency that has gotten him to where he is today. Truly inspirational. And a fitness journey isn’t just about weight loss. Kip has had some incredible results over his years in his new fitness lifestyle with us. Here are some big highlights. Kip was able to reduce his body fat percentage by 16.05% which translates into about 53.18 of fat weight reduced. Kip did not lose any muscle mass, in fact he was able to increase his lean weight! Way to go!
We were able to sit down with Kip for a quick chat and we got to learn a little more about this HIIPfit Hero. Here are some of the questions we asked Kip. Let’s see what he had to say:
What is your favorite thing about working out at KHF?
“I love the people here! Be it fellow classmates or KHF staff, everyone has been so welcoming, fun to get to know and challenge/encourage me when I don’t think I can get stronger or stay the course. To be at a place like that is why I’ve made the progress I have.”
What is your favorite part of the HIIPfit high-intensity interval class?
“The group environment. Working out in a group pushes me to be faster and stronger each class. A group class provides energy that’s hard to replicate working out solo; it makes working out more of a social experience.”
What has been your biggest fitness success at KHF?
“ Definitely making fitness part of my life routine. For so long, fitness was a “when convenient” and “felt like it” event for me. I had such a hard time getting out of that rut of setting up a consistent workout routine. I definitely didn’t get great results with that mindset. Making a priority and booking classes no matter how my day went or am feeling, has made a tremendous difference to get where I am today. And to be enthused about going to workout, well, that’s a success in itself. This routine was a big reason for losing over 50 lbs. since being at KHF.”
What is your favorite exercise or movement in HIIPfit?
“The Treads, even dynamic mode, have become a favorite for me. To have a variety of treadmill modes and exercises has made treadmills neither monotonous nor focusing on only one or two groups of muscles.”
What would you tell someone thinking of diving into the KHF fitness experience?
“I’ve been there. I badly wanted to get in shape and have my health back on track. But I was so nervous because I thought I’d embarrass myself or get hurt. At the end of the day, you just have to sign up and show up for that first class. You’ll be challenged, get sore and frustrated learning new exercises. Cliche as it is, take it one workout at a time. In time, you learn the moves, get faster/stronger, build confidence and have some fun while you’re at it.”
What are your future fitness goals at KHF?
“To build more muscle. I’m at a point in my weight journey where I can focus on that aspect of me. I want to build more confidence and knowledge of weight training. Toning up my chest and abdomen is a long time ambition for me. Also to continue exploring healthier food and drink options to replace less healthier ones. This is a lifelong journey for everyone, always room for improvement. For me, vegetables could use more spotlight in my diet.”
How are you going to continue your new and improved lifestyle?
“Continue coming to classes and give the best I can each time. I am going to continue being intentional about what and how much I’m eating or drinking. I’ve made smaller changes, like taking the stairs to the office, walking during lunch and (gasp!) exercising while on vacation. Finally, I’m going to invest in a forgotten aspect of health: sleep. Good sleep makes a world of physical and mental health difference.”
Kip, we can’t thank you enough for all of your hard work and sweat you have put in. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with everyone. You should take stock in that you are inspiring others in your community! At the same time, you are becoming a better version of your true self each day, even when times get tough…you keep going. That is a huge message for everyone. Keep up the good work and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you :)
Cheers to looking good and feeling good!
