HIIPfit Heroes - Mandy
Meet Mandy.
Mandy started her Kyle House Fitness journey with us in December of 2017. We are always in awe of her determination and consistency as Mandy runs to the studio from her office in downtown Chattanooga prior to her HIIPfit classes. It has been such a treat watching her progress and crush new milestone after milestone. Mandy even added in personal training sessions to help her find her best self along this journey. The energy she brings to the studio is energizing and refreshing!
We were able to sit down with Mandy for a quick chat and we got to learn a little more about this HIIPfit Hero. Here are some of the questions we asked Mandy. Let’s see what she had to say:
What is your favorite thing about working out at KHF?
“I love the people. Not only are all of the trainers amazing and work with you to meet your goals, but I have made quite a few friends in the HIIPfit room. It’s just a great community all around.”
What is your favorite part of the HIIPfit high intensity interval class?
“I like seeing how the moves on the floor change all the time- there is always something new and challenging.”
What has been your biggest fitness success?
“Two things- I just had a baby a few months ago. I went to HIIP Fit classes up until the day before I delivered, just by modifying some moves and pacing myself.
Another thing I am proud of is my improved run times. I used to be a triathlete and still compete in a few road races every year. Back in my endurance days I HATED the treadmill- I just found it incredibly boring. It was a necessary evil if the weather was too bad to run outside. Since coming to KHF I have been able to see how to use it as a tool to challenge myself in shorter bursts. This has shaved a good bit off of my run times, even in longer races. Last year I was able to run a half marathon and even though I was pregnant and on a hilly course, I still beat some half marathon times from 10+ years ago.”
What is your favorite exercise or movement in HIIPfit?
“I always enjoy a good dog flipping.”
What would you tell someone thinking of diving into the KHF fitness experience?
“I think a lot of people worry about being embarrassed or intimidated by doing a group class. The truth is whether you’ve done hundreds of classes or it is your first one, everyone is in there working hard regardless of fitness level. Everyone feels both exhausted and accomplished at the end of a class. So no need to compare yourself to others. It doesn’t get easier after a few hundred classes, you just challenge yourself in different ways. Plus no one EVER says they regret doing a workout.”
What are your future fitness goals at KHF?
“First, I want to drop my baby weight. I’d also like to do a few more races next season. My husband and I have really enjoyed running together.”
How are you going to continue your new and improved lifestyle?
“I’m gonna keep doing what I do- show up at noon every day :)”
Mandy, thank you so much for sharing your journey with everyone. We have had such a great time getting to know you more over the years and we truly appreciate all of the energy you bring to the HIIPfit room and to the KHF community as a whole. Working through pregnancy and even post-pregnancy is no joke and we applaud you for all you have accomplished. Much love to you and keep up the hard work!
Cheers to looking good and feeling good!
